Jake went to sleep holding Lilly in his arms. His feelings for her were increasing by the day and he knew he was going to have to do something about it. He couldn't believe she was going to leave to find a job. Thank goodness he stopped her and now she was going to work on the ranch with him. This would give him the opportunity to show her everything about ranch life. Maybe she really would stay with him after paying off all of the debt. The next morning he woke before the sun rose and shook Lilly lightly to wake her.

"Lilly, wake up honey," he said softly as he began pulling the covers off of her.

"Jake," she whined, "it's too early. Lay back down with me."

Jake smiled at her request. "I would love to baby, but I've got to show you around the ranch since you're going to start working today."

Lilly slowly opened her eyes and rolled over to stare at him. "That starts today?" she groaned.

"Yes ma'am," he said giving her a big smile and a swat on her butt. "Let's go!"

Lilly watched him leave the room and rolled out of bed to throw on some jeans and a t-shirt. When she met him down in the kitchen, he was writing a list on a pad of paper on the island. She walked over and started reading: Clean stalls, wipe down windows in stables and barn, feed and brush horses. And the list continued on and on. She looked up at him, hoping this wasn't all listed for just her.

"Calm down. I'm not going to just throw you to the wolves. I'm going to show you how to do everything today. I told Jim and Tom that I would be helping you today so they are handling some of my normal work," Jake said reassuringly, while he rubbed her back.

Lilly nodded and followed him outside. Even though he was very particular how he liked work handled around the ranch, he turned out to be a really great teacher. He took his time with her, praising often, and correcting gently when she made mistakes. She was half-surprised by his actions and tried to joke with him about his easy-going teaching style.

"You know, part of me was worried you might rule with an iron fist with the ranch work," she laughed as they brushed the horses in the stables.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jake wondered.

Lilly looked down at the horse, suppressing a smile. "I don't know, figured you'd probably spank me or something if I messed up one of the chores."

Jake laughed loudly and pulled Lilly close to him to whisper in her ear. "Better watch out, you're giving me ideas." Lilly pulled back and glared at him from the other side of the horse, hoping he was joking. "You know, not all spankings are for punishment," he said with a wink.

Lilly didn't say anything but turned her head in question. She could feel her juices running with just that one statement.
